ARRT depends on item writers in order to offer high quality certification exams. Below are some of the steps to becoming an ARRT item writer.
- Be certified and registered in the discipline you wish to write for. You should also be working at least part time in that discipline.
- Create a profile on the volunteer portal and submit your resume or CV.
- ARRT needs vary by discipline. It may take some time (months or years) to be chosen to be an item writer.
- After you are chosen, we will contact you. You will need to complete the following:
- Watch four 15-to-20-minute videos and complete short post-tests using a link we provide.
- After you have completed the videos, you will receive an invitation to a two-day item writer virtual workshop for advanced training.
- Review three additional short orientation videos via a link we provide, to prepare yourself for the workshop.
- Respond to the invitation and write 10 items to be further worked on during the workshop.
- Attend both days of the virtual two-day workshop.
- After the workshop, you will receive a contract to write 5-15 items per month for 12 months.
- ARRT currently pays item writers $20 for each item that we accept. Any item that we return will have constructive feedback and you may revise it and resubmit it for payment.
