Hello ARRT Volunteers! It is our pleasure to introduce our new Director of Exam Requirements and Psychometrics, Torrey Smith. Torrey joined ARRT in July 2023 with over 20 years of experience in certification development. Some of you may have already met him through a virtual meeting. For those of you have haven't, we look forward to the opportunity for you to get to know him.

Torrey earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Big Red!) and his Master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. His first role in the world of certification development was with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, where he started out as the Continuing Education Coordinator and progressed through various exam development roles before becoming their Certification Director. He was with the NSCA for about 14 years. Torrey also spent a few years working for Alpine Testing Solutions where he managed up to eight certification programs at various exam development stages across different industries. Working on the vendor side of certification development allowed him to fully understand the certification development and delivery process from the vendor lens, which he states has been quite helpful in the way he manages programs. Just prior to coming onboard at the ARRT, Torrey spent the last four years working for Inteleos as their Global Director of the Point-of-Care Ultrasound Certification Academy. In addition to his certification development experience, he is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) through the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). About his new role at ARRT, Torrey says, "Of all the programs I have managed, the ERaP department is more organized, efficient, and well-prepared in every aspect of our work. This is the best team I've ever worked with". He is excited to bring his knowledge and experience to ARRT!

Torrey lives in Phoenix with his wife, and they have three amazing adult children: twin daughters, and a son who just recently headed off for college. In their free time, they love to travel, hike, play golf, and work on home improvement projects.

Torrey
