It's not often we get to introduce new staff back to back, so we are especially excited to tell you about our newest associate psychometrician, Matthew Snodgress. He comes to us from the University of Minnesota, where he earned his master's degree in Statistics and is finishing his Ph.D. in Quantitative Psychology.

Matthew says:

My background is in psychometrics and statistics where I have helped to develop models used for analyzing changes in people across time. Questionnaires are often used over the course of days, weeks, or months to repeatedly capture snapshots of a person's knowledge, emotions, or preferences. I study and develop models used to analyze such questionnaires, especially when some people do not respond at every time point.

In addition to modeling change, I have a special interest in the graded response model. This is a psychometric model used for items with multiple response options and it is useful for studying individual differences in clinical and personality traits.

Finally, I am interested in applied neuroimaging, especially in classifying individuals into groups (e.g., healthy vs. not healthy) using brain imaging data and machine learning techniques.

Be sure to introduce yourself if you meet Matthew at one of our upcoming meetings!
