Samantha Stantz has been an item writer and has volunteered on the Radiation Therapy Special Projects Committee.

What first prompted you to volunteer with the ARRT?

"I believe in giving back to my community. I have always enjoyed what I do and am very passionate about it. I only hope I can pass what I've learned into others so that we all can continue to grow and do our best against this disease."

When did you start volunteering with ARRT?

"I believe in 2009."

What type of volunteering have you done with ARRT?

"I have been in the item writing committee twice, the exam committee, and (I forget the title) a standards committee."

What did you enjoy the most about being a volunteer with ARRT?

"I enjoy the people I have met along the way. It is easy to get lost in everyday life. It becomes mundane but every once in a while, people come into our lives that show us something new (a lesson, a trait, what have you) and we're able to utilize this and hopefully one day pay it forward. I have met so many people with ARRT, and I feel I have increased my knowledge-based community beyond measure. Countless times over the years I reach out to folks all over the US about a technique or procedure and never once have I been let down by them."

If you could give advice to someone who is interested in volunteering with ARRT what would that be?

"DO IT! ARRT and its community is absolutely amazing. No regrets here."

What do you like to do when you are not working or volunteering with ARRT?

"I enjoy time with my husband and our 4 children (Lillian (7), Baer (5), O'Briens (2), Lars (1). We're often found outside and living it up with other families in our cul d'sac. When we're not doing that, we're at Disney World or a beach somewhere loving life."

The NMT EDC Roxanne says, "I worked with Samantha when she was on the radiation therapy exam committee and now with item writing. She is very knowledgeable and offers a deep insight into the important areas of radiation therapy."

From ARRT, we thank you for all that you do Samantha Stantz!
