A task inventory is available for all ARRT's disciplines. It is the result of a survey done every five years. Generally, if at least 40% of the survey respondents who are currently working in that discipline say they are doing an activity, it is put onto the task inventory. The practice analysis committee, which is made up of subject matter experts, uses the task inventory to decide what should be on the content specifications and clinical requirements. If an activity is not on the task inventory, it cannot be on the content specifications or clinical requirements.
A candidate getting ready to take an exam can use the task inventory to dig a little deeper into tasks that the exam may cover. ARRT's website has all task inventories available on the Discipline Documents page.
