Cindy Siperly has been an item writer and has volunteered on the Mammography Exam, Practice Analysis, and Standard Setting Committees.
What first prompted you to volunteer with the ARRT?
"I have a passion for breast imaging, and thought it would be a great way to enhance my career as a mammographer."
When did you start volunteering with ARRT?
"I started volunteering for the ARRT in 2018."
What type of volunteering have you done with ARRT?
"I was on the Mammography Standard Setting Committee, and am currently on the Mammography Exam and Mammography Practice Analysis Committees."
What do you enjoy the most about being a volunteer with ARRT?
"The volunteers get together twice a year for two intensive days of 'work', but I find it extremely fun and educational. The camaraderie you develop with the team members is really amazing. I've volunteered for many things in my life, but I've never felt as appreciated for my work as I do with the ARRT. They show their gratitude in many ways."
If you could give advice to someone who is interested in volunteering with ARRT what would that be?
"If you're passionate about diagnostic imaging, I would encourage you to get involved with the ARRT as a volunteer. The people are wonderful and the work keeps you from losing the knowledge you learned in school."
What do you like to do when you are not working or volunteering with ARRT?
"I currently work as a breast sonographer and mammographer in Knoxville Tennessee. In my free time I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, trout fishing, and boating with my husband. We have 4 boys, 2 granddaughters, 2 dogs and 10 chickens. :) "
Shelley, the discipline EDC says, " I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Cindy on the Mammography Exam Committee. She has excellent knowledge but is also willing to admit when it is an area beyond her area of expertise. She is a lot of fun, has a great sense of humor and the committee has especially loved hearing her chickens and roosters in the background as we work with Cindy virtually! I look forward to continuing to work with Cindy on other ARRT volunteer opportunities."
From ARRT, we thank you for all that you do Cindy!
