We want to let you know about some of the different types of committees that we use to keep our examinations and documents current. We rely mainly on R.T.s to assist us with these projects.
What is a Practice Analysis Project?
The purpose of a practice analysis project is to update the documents that are used to create the exam and clinical requirements. A practice analysis project is performed approximately every five years for each discipline. Practice analyses are used by the ARRT to make sure the certification examinations, SSAs, and clinical requirements have appropriate content validity.
The committee does this by creating a survey to send to R.T.s working in a discipline. The survey asks about what tasks and procedures are currently being performed. The committee then evaluates the results to update the documents used for that discipline. Public comments are also reviewed by the committee for possible revisions. Input from our subject matter experts (committee members) is essential for this process.
The committee consists of R.T.s, including educators, who are actively working or teaching in that discipline and a physician involved with the discipline. Some of the committee R.T.s may have been working for a couple of years and others, a much longer time. The committee usually meets three times for one or two days, about six months apart for this project. An updated resume in the volunteer portal that is less than two years old is the best way to be considered for this type of committee.
