In-Person Meeting Information

This page and others will provide a brief overview of what to expect as a committee member at an In-Person Meeting. You may refer to the Travel Information for Visitors to ARRT for details about booking your travel.

Please contact us at volunteers@arrt.org if you have any questions about the information listed below.

NOTE: If your meeting is scheduled as In-Person, there is NOT an option to participate virtually at this time.

IN-PERSON MEETING DECORUM

Here are a few important tips to consider when participating in an in-person meeting:

Attendance

When you RSVP for an in-person meeting, ARRT staff will assume that you will be at the meeting for the entire time, with the exception of the lunch break or other provided breaks. Stepping away from the meeting often causes disruptions and we may need to pause the meeting until you are able to return promptly.

Meeting Attire

Meetings are held at ARRT headquarters and therefore appropriate casual and comfortable business attire is recommended. Our meeting rooms can be cool; dressing in layers may be helpful.

Communication

At times it can be challenging to communicate with large groups during a committee meeting. As a reminder, all voices are equal and every committee member plays a vital role in the meeting. Please respect all voices during the meeting.

Committee Schedule

Day One:

After having breakfast at your hotel, the committee assembles each morning in the hotel lobby at 7:50 a.m. (CT) for transportation to ARRT.

Committee members typically spend the day working with ARRT staff on their committee assignments. If you are on the exam committee or standard setting committee, you may be reviewing an item pool.  An item pool is a subset of items from the item bank (the large collection of questions ARRT keeps on file). During a pool review, committee members read and comment on potential exam items.

If you are on a practice analysis committee, you may be reviewing ARRT documents for revision.

We'll provide lunch for you on site at ARRT. You can use that time to socialize with fellow committee members and staff, or to catch up on missed calls or emails.

ARRT typically hosts a committee dinner at a local restaurant on the evening of the first day. This event offers a wonderful opportunity for collegial interaction on a more personal level. While we encourage committee members to focus on building professional relationships, we kindly request that you consider the nature of the dinner before deciding to bring a guest. This helps ensure that the dinner remains a productive and professional environment for all attendees. Please note that guest expenses will not be covered by ARRT.

Day Two:

We will repeat many of the first day’s activities on the second day as we complete the activities that were started. If needed, we will take some time to schedule the next meeting and discuss next steps for your committee.

Our travel agent will book returning flights on Day Two scheduled to depart after 6 p.m. (CT). We will arrange for a shuttle to take you to the airport. Those leaving on Day Two will bring their luggage to ARRT from the hotel, and it will be stored in a secure location through the day.
