Exam Committees
Our examination committees consist of practicing technologists, supervising technologists, technologists involved in educational programs, physicists, and practicing physicians. Their backgrounds ensure we have representatives from a range of positions, geographic locations, and practice settings.
A typical exam committee term is four years with approximately 1-2 meetings per year. As openings arise, we will send the potential volunteers name and resume to the ARRT Board of Trustees for their approval of the appointment. Once approved, they will receive an invitation from us to participate as a committee member.
We enlist the help of practicing R.T.s to create exam questions (often referred to as items). Our exam committees, critique each item on technical accuracy, relevance to performing entry-level tasks, and conformance with the principles of question writing.
We have specially trained staff who assemble pools of these items by selecting item-bank questions that meet the requirements of each discipline's content specifications. Our examination committees, as a part of a two-day in-person or virtual committee meeting, will then review the selections, ensuring that the content is current and relevant to the content from the discipline's most current content specifications.
