As item writers, you may have times when you are at a loss as to what area to write items in. Here are a few resources for you to consider.
On ARRT website you can find an electronic version of the Content Specifications listed by discipline. This can be found at www.arrt.org:
- scroll down slightly to find the new icon
- Click on Examination Content Specifications and find the discipline you are writing for
- The discipline documents can also be found under the "Quick Links" at the bottom of the web page.
Within the item writing software, you can also find a highlighted version of a disciplines Content Specifications. This is highlighted by the disciplines EDC to help identify areas that made need additional items. Once you are logged into the item writing software:
- Click on the "Miscellaneous" tab
- Click on "Documentation"
This will open a box that has each disciplines Content Specifications as well as an electronic version of the Item Writing Manual.
Another is to think about a new employee where you work or a student you may have contact with. What are the areas you wished they would have had more knowledge in?
Lastly, talk to your coworkers and fellow item writers. A good brainstorming session can give you several good ideas.
