Megan Stickney has volunteered on the Radiography Exam Committee and Standard Setting Committees

What first prompted you to volunteer with the ARRT?

"I received a letter in the mail from the ARRT asking if I would be interested in any of several different volunteer opportunities. I was still relatively new in my career, but I was eager to expand my experience and involvement in the profession."

When did you start volunteering with ARRT?

"I started volunteering with ARRT in 2019."

What type of volunteering have you done with ARRT?

"So far I have served on the Radiography Exam Committe and the Radiography Standards Setting meeting. Once my tenure on the Radiography Exam Committe comes to a close, I look forward to finding new volunteer opportunities with ARRT!"

What did you enjoy the most about being a volunteer with ARRT?

"Having the opportunity to use my education and my own real-world experience as a technologist to make an impact on the future of the profession is both gratifying and humbling. Being able to work with and learn from other professionals from around the country has been incredible. I've learned so much, not only from other radiographers, but also radiologists, physicist, educators, board members, and the ARRT staff. It's also worth mentioning how fun these meetings are! Working with such a diverse and passionate group of people is something I greatly look forward to every time."

If you could give advice to someone who is interested in volunteering with ARRT what would that be?

"Volunteering with the ARRT has without a doubt been one of the best parts of my career. I had no idea what to expect as a new volunteer, but I'm incredibly thankful that I decided to give it a try. There are so many different volunteer opportunities available; find something that sounds like it might be of interest and go for it!"

What do you like to do when you are not working or volunteering with ARRT?

"I love to travel. My husband and I have a goal of hiking in all 63 National Parks: we've been to 38 so far! I also enjoy food, coffee, and relaxing at home with my cats."

Ann Miller, the disciplines EDC says,

"Megan is an absolute joy to work with and I love reading her reviews of new items we receive.  When COVID forced us into virtual meetings, the early hours impacted those like Megan who live on the west coast.  However, you would not know that by her dedication.  She is always one of the first to log on to our virtual meetings and one of the last to leave."

From ARRT, we thank you for all that you do Megan Stickney!
