At ARRT, the Exam Development Coordinator or EDC is primarily responsible for all activities related to creation of examinations for certification and registration.  The EDC is certified and registered by ARRT and usually has experience in the discipline for which they are coordinating exam development activities, although not always.  They work side by side with the ARRT psychometric team as well as subject matter experts from across the country. EDCs facilitate all meetings with volunteer committees who provide input and direction on the questions that are used for ARRT examinations. Once that input has been received from committees, EDCs are responsible for the creation, production, and publication of examinations for certification and registration. They also work closely with item writers providing training and mentoring on item creation and development.

EDCs partner with our psychometric team for practice analysis projects during which the content and requirements for each discipline are updated with the help of a volunteer committee. They then oversee the publication of updated documents (e.g., content specifications, clinical requirements) that are used as guides for certification and registration.
