ARRT's exam committees, practice analysis committees, and other committees include members who are R.T.s. Potential committee members are selected by an exam development coordinator (EDC) from the R.T.s who have submitted their information and resumes on the ARRT Volunteer Portal. Each committee member is appointed by the ARRT Board of Trustees who reviews several resumes and decides who is the best fit for a committee. To assure diversity of each committee, the following attributes are evaluated:

  • Credentials - R.T.s must be ARRT credentialed in the discipline
  • State where the R.T. works
  • Years of experience in the discipline
  • Role (e.g., staff technologist, educator), R.T. must be currently working, either full-time or part-time, in the discipline
  • Strengths (e.g., patient care, quality control)

Committee members usually serve on a committee for about four years. When an opening occurs, the EDC looks at the current committee and decides who may best fill the opening. For example, the EDC may see a need for an early career (up to five years in the discipline) R.T. that is certified and registered in CT, and from the east coast of the United States. Since circumstances may change, appointed R.T.s may accept or decline their appointment.

Advantages of serving on a committee include working with like-minded professionals from other parts of the country and helping to shape their discipline. Committee involvement also makes a great addition to a resume. Currently, committee members receive a $250 honorarium for each day they spend on a committee.
