What first prompted you to volunteer with ARRT?
My mentor in medical physics encouraged me to apply for it through the AAPM. At the time I didn't have a great idea of what it all entailed, but later would meet up with him to thank him for suggesting it to me!
When did you start volunteering with ARRT?
2021
What type of volunteering have you done with ARRT?
I am currently an item writer for Limited Scope of Practice in Radiography. I also serve on the Radiography exam committee and have previously served on a standard setting committee for Radiography.
What do you enjoy the most about being a volunteer with ARRT?
The folks at the ARRT are some of the BEST people to volunteer with. From the exam development coordinators, to the psyshometricians, to the folks making sure everything runs in the background, everyone I have had the pleasure of meeting has been dedicated to excellence and was incredibly kind and fun! All of the volunteers on my committees have always challenged each other to think critically and consider items from many different viewpoints which I think is incredibly valuable. I always enjoy coming to meetings and will forever treasure this experience.
If you could give advice to someone who is interested in volunteering with ARRT, what would that be?
If you have even an inkling that you may want to volunteer with the ARRT I would HIGHLY encourage you to try it, because once you do you'll be hooked! The ARRT needs folks from all backgrounds. Volunteers coming from different perspectives is what makes the ARRT so unique. Volunteering will make you think about your profession in a different light and will help you grow in your profession no matter what level you're at.
What do you like to do when you are not working or volunteering with ARRT?
Right now, planning a wedding! When not trying to plan my own wedding, I like to hike, fish, and snowshoe. When indoors, I love creating textured pieces of art by wood burning.
