What first prompted you to volunteer with the ARRT?

Several years after taking my Bone Densitometry registry, the ARRT actually sent me a letter inviting me to apply as a volunteer. I decided to fill out an application and the rest is history.

When did you start volunteering with ARRT?

February 10, 2021

What type of volunteering have you done with ARRT?

  • Item Writer for Bone Densitometry Exam
  • Item Writer for Bone Densitometry Operator Exam
  • Radiology Exam Committee

What do you enjoy the most about being a volunteer with ARRT?

There are a lot of things that I enjoy about being a volunteer for the ARRT. However, I would say working with my radiology exam committee, that I currently have, has been the most enjoyable. We make a GREAT team and are very productive. We actually got to meet in person last spring and it was amazing to finally be face to face verses being virtual. The constant challenge and focus is also something that I enjoy. You are continuously challenging yourself and relearning items you haven't had to think about since you were a student yourself.

If you could give advice to someone who is interested in volunteering with ARRT, what would that be?

Be open minded and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. I never once thought I would be a volunteer for the ARRT, but I am glad I filled out the application. It is an AMAZING experience and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Being a volunteer is a very humble and rewarding experience!

What do you like to do when you are not working or volunteering with ARRT?

I enjoy exploring the world by taking various vacations throughout the year, whether it be on a cruise or hanging out at a resort. I also enjoy scuba diving, working out, and reading a good book.

The Bone Densitometry Exam Development Coordinator, Jennifer Edwards, says: "Nicole is a cheerful contributor who is passionate about our profession. She is a very engaged committee member, both for Radiography and Bone Densitometry. So engaged, in fact, that when she learned about our new ImageBank during a Radiography committee meeting, she asked me about submitting images for other Bone Densitometry item writers to use! Nicole has fantastic follow-through and responds to emails quickly. I'm so glad I get to work with her!"
