What first prompted you to volunteer with the ARRT?

I enjoy serving the radiologic science profession.  I learned of opportunities available with the ARRT and became excited at the prospect of being selected for the golden opportunity.

When did you start volunteering with ARRT?

I was appointed in February of 2022 as a volunteer for an examination committee.

What type of volunteering have you done with ARRT?

I presently serve on the Radiography Exam Committee B.

What did you enjoy the most about being a volunteer with ARRT?

I enjoy working with the diligent professionals of the ARRT and learning a bit about the inner workings of the ARRT examination preparation.  I appreciate meeting with like-minded colleagues to perform meaningful work for the radiologic science profession. The variety of members of the committee bring a unique perspective to the table and value each other's participation in the process.

If you could give advice to someone who is interested in volunteering with ARRT what would that be?

The first advice that I would give to someone considering volunteering with the ARRT is to take the leap to become a deeper part of the profession.  Next, I encourage the interested volunteer to carefully follow the application instructions, so that there is no delay in the opportunity.  Lastly, I incite the interested volunteer to fully involve themselves in the work to which they are selected.  The rewards are priceless.

What do you like to do when you are not working or volunteering with ARRT?

When I am not volunteering with the ARRT, I enjoy listening to live music, going to Estate sales, antiquing, thrifting, gardening, bike riding, walking, and hiking.

The Radiography Exam Development Coordinator, Ann Miller, says: "Lorie is an awesome volunteer! As both an educator and technologist, Lorie's experience and knowledge is so very valuable. I do appreciate her editing skills when it comes to the reviewing both before and during exam committee meetings. She has also been active in helping to recruit new volunteers from the new graduates."
