What first prompted you to volunteer with ARRT?

I became interested in volunteering with ARRT when I received a brochure about it mailed along with my certificate.  I wanted to share my thoughts on how to improve the credentialing process and make a difference for future Radiation Therapists.

When did you start volunteering with ARRT?

I first volunteered in 2018. I was excited to visit the Minneapolis/St. Paul area for the first time. That assignment continued through the pandemic and unfortunately, we didn't get to be in person for my final meetings.

What type of volunteering have you done with ARRT?

I have worked on the radiation therapy exam review committee and have recently started work as an item writer.

What do you enjoy the most about being a volunteer with ARRT?

The staff at ARRT are so friendly and welcoming.  The environment makes it easy to share your ideas and collaborate with other volunteers.

If you could give advice to someone who is interested in volunteering with ARRT, what would that be?

Everyone I meet has valuable knowledge to share about our field. Volunteering is your way to have a voice in where our industry is headed. Even if you only fill out a survey, you are contributing to the future of the field.

What do you like to do when you are not working or volunteering with ARRT?

I love watching my two boys play hockey and football. I am blessed to be an aunt to 12 nieces and nephews (so far).

The Exam Production Associate for Radiation Therapy, Angela Polk, adds: "Liza started a management position when she joined the exam committee, and brought that important perspective to the meetings. Her consistent attendance and responsiveness to emails made her a valuable committee member. One example of Liza's commitment to go above and beyond for the profession is the fact that her flight was delayed for a 2019 meeting, and she was willing to rent a car to drive over 20 hours overnight to make it on time. Thankfully, the flight was rescheduled to a morning time that allowed Liza to make it successfully without driving. While ARRT doesn't require any volunteers to go to such lengths, we celebrate that level of dedication! We look forward to Liza's future contributions following her attendance at this month's ARRT Item Writing Workshop."
