Throughout the year, ARRT invites public comment on a variety of documents. These include proposed governing documents and discipline documents. ARRT collects comments about the proposed changes by a survey on SurveyMonkey. The public (YOU!) reviews the documents, and then ARRT staff may adjust the documents before the ARRT Board of Trustees reviews and approves them.
The development of discipline documents follows these steps:
1. Every five years, ARRT sends a comprehensive survey to RTs for each discipline.
2. The discipline's practice analysis committee ("the committee") reviews the survey results.
3. The committee updates the current documents based on the survey results.
4. ARRT makes the updated documents available for public comments.
5. The committee reviews the public comments at the end of the commenting period.
6. The committee may make additional changes based on the comments received.
7. The committee submits the updated document to the ARRT Board of Trustees for their review and approval.
You can find proposed documents on the ARRT website under ARRT News. The documents, along with a SurveyMonkey survey, are usually available for 4-8 weeks. Proposed documents for bone densitometry and CT will be available for public comment in March 2025; radiography, nuclear medicine technology, and radiation therapy will be available in August 2025. Next time you see proposed documents inviting public comment, consider adding your thoughts if the documents apply to you. You could make a difference.
